The Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (ASOTA) degree program prepares graduates to serve as skilled members of healthcare teams across a variety of practice settings. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and practical skills needed for entry-level employment as an occupational therapy assistant. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. After successfully passing the exam and meeting state requirements, graduates may apply for licensure to practice as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in any state.
The OTA program is a four-semester curriculum designed to build competency in therapeutic techniques, client-centered care, and professional practice. The program admits 15 qualified applicants each year. Admission requires completion of the college application as well as a separate OTA program application. Students may apply while completing prerequisite coursework, with final acceptance contingent upon successful completion of required courses.
