This course studies the art of nonfiction through reading, analyzing and creating original nonfiction works. Focus is on creative expression, writing technique and nonfiction forms. Students begin with writing exercises and brief essays, advancing to longer forms as the semester progresses.

This course is designed to give students experience with generating and developing original works of poetry and short fiction through two methods: analysis and discussion of works by practicing authors, and drafting and polishing their own works through workshops and writing tanks.

This course builds upon students' understanding of the terminology and concepts that apply to multiple genres of creative writing, as well as foundational skills in reading, discussing, and writing creatively. Students will expand their abilities in giving and receiving feedback and will practice the art of revision. Objectives will be specific to each special topic.

This course gives creative writing students the opportunity to focus on a specific creative writing project of their choice, with guidance from a faculty member. Students will create a project proposal, timeline, and a plan for sharing the finished project with an appropriate audience (in-person, virtual, online, or print).

This course offers creative writing students the opportunity to pursue a creative project of their choice and to receive feedback from peers and faculty. Additionally, students work to edit, design, layout, and produce the annual college anthology, Vision and Voice, gaining real-world experience in the field of publishing.
