Aviation Maintenance Tech (AVMT)

AVMT 101  Aircraft Maintenance General 1  (7 Credits)  
This is the first of three classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic General written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to aircraft drawings, physics for aviation, human factors, and ground operations and servicing.
Course restrictions: Enrollment limited to students in the Aviation Maint. Tech. - AAS, CAS-Aviation Airframe or CAS-Aviation Powerplant programs.
AVMT 102  Aircraft Maintenance General 2  (7 Credits)  
This is the second of three classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration’s General written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to fluid lines and fittings; cleaning and corrosion control; weight and balance; and materials, processes and hardware.
Course restrictions: Enrollment limited to students in the Aviation Maint. Tech. - AAS, CAS-Aviation Airframe or CAS-Aviation Powerplant programs.
AVMT 103  Aircraft Maintenance General 3  (7 Credits)  
This is the third of three classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration’s General written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to fundamentals of electricity and electronics; regulations, maintenance forms, records, and publications; and inspection concepts and techniques.
Course restrictions: Enrollment limited to students in the Aviation Maint. Tech. - AAS, CAS-Aviation Airframe or CAS-Aviation Powerplant programs.
AVMT 122  Airframe Systems 1  (6 Credits)  
This is the first of five classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Airframe written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to aircraft electrical systems, flight controls, and rotorcraft fundamentals.
AVMT 123  Airframe Systems 2  (6 Credits)  
This is the second of five classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Airframe written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to landing hear systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and aircraft fuel systems.
AVMT 124  Airframe Systems 3  (6 Credits)  
This is the third of five classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Airframe written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to communication and navigation systems, as well as non-metallic structures.
AVMT 132  Airframe Systems 4  (7 Credits)  
This is the fourth of five classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Airframe written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to metallic structures; water and waste systems; and ice and rain control systems.
AVMT 133  Airframe Systems 5  (7 Credits)  
This is the fifth of five classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Airframe written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to airframe fire protection systems, engine fire protection systems, aircraft instrument systems, engine instrument systems, environmental systems, and airframe inspections.
AVMT 200  Advanced Electricity  (3 Credits)  
This course will review basic electricity including DC and AC and then expand on this knowledge to cover advanced electrical concepts including digital electronics, series and parallel circuits, and multivibrator/oscillator circuits.
Pre-requisite(s): AVMT 105  
AVMT 206  Circuit Theory  (2 Credits)  
This course will review basic circuit theory and focus on advanced circuit theory. Students will apply both direct and alternating current operations within series, parallel and series-parallel circuits. Formulas, measurement techniques, and calculations will be used to create a greater understanding of given circuit dynamics.
AVMT 211  RF Circuits  (4 Credits)  
This course will give the student the knowledge necessary to recognize and identify frequency dependent circuits such as: filter supply circuits, frequency sensitive filtering circuits, and wave generating circuits. This course will also give the student the ability to accurately describe and compare power supply circuits/components.
AVMT 216  Electrical Components  (2 Credits)  
This course will cover important discreet circuit components and diagnostic techniques. The items in this course are fundamental to many types of aircraft circuits. Examples of the components covered in this course are: resistors, Inductors, capacitors, transformers and switches.
AVMT 221  Digital Logic  (3 Credits)  
This course will explore digital logic gates, functions, and symbols. Students will analyze, define, and interpret digital logic circuits and compare hexadecimal, octal, and binary digital numbering systems.
AVMT 225  Powerplant Reciproc Eng Syst 1  (5 Credits)  
This is the first of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to the knowledge, risk management, and skill elements required for aircraft reciprocating engines.
AVMT 230  Powerplant Reciproc Eng Syst 2  (5 Credits)  
This is the second of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to the knowledge, risk management, and skill elements required for reciprocating engine ignition and starting systems as well as reciprocating engine fuel metering systems.
AVMT 233  Powerplant Reciproc Eng Syst 3  (5 Credits)  
This is the third of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related engine lubrication systems, reciprocating engine induction and cooling systems, engine exhaust and reverser systems, and engine inspection.
AVMT 235  Powerplant Turbine Eng Syst 1  (5 Credits)  
This is the fourth of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to the knowledge, risk management, and skill elements required for turbine engines, turbine engine air systems, fuel and fuel metering systems and engine exhaust and reverser systems.
AVMT 237  Powerplant Turbine Eng Syst 2  (5 Credits)  
This is the fifth of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to turbine engine ignition, starting, lubrication, inspection and powerplant electrical systems.
AVMT 250  Engine Fire Protection Systems  (2.5 Credits)  
Safety systems onboard aircraft are very important and one of the primary and most important is the fire detection and suppression systems. In this course students will learn the different types of fire detection and suppression/extinguishing systems used with aircraft engines. Students will learn to identify, inspect, service, troubleshoot and repair the different types of engine detection and extinguishing systems.
AVMT 255  Powerplant Propellers  (4 Credits)  
This is the sixth of six classes designed to prepare students for the Federal Aviation Administration's Aviation Mechanic Powerplant written and oral & practical exams. The course will cover topics related to the knowledge, risk management, and skill elements required for aircraft propellers.
